Why Do I Overthink Everything?

You replay a conversation from three days ago. You draft a simple text five times before you hit send.

If that sounds familiar, you are in good company. Overthinking is one of the most common reasons people come to this work.

Overthinking is your mind trying to keep you safe

Most overthinking has a job. Somewhere along the way, your mind learned that thinking ahead kept you out of trouble.

Maybe you grew up reading the mood of a room before you spoke. Maybe a past mistake cost you more than it should have.

Your mind took notes. It decided that if you think through every outcome, nothing can catch you off guard. That made sense once. The trouble is that it keeps running long after the danger has passed.

Why telling yourself to stop rarely works

You have probably tried to talk yourself out of it. You tell yourself it does not matter, or that you are being silly.

That rarely holds. The loop lives in an older part of you. That part formed before you had words for what was happening.

Logic speaks one language. That older part speaks another. Until the two meet, the loop tends to come back.

Signs your overthinking has older roots

  • It shows up in the same kinds of situations again and again.

  • The feeling is bigger than the moment calls for.

  • You understand why you do it, and it still happens.

  • Rest feels hard, even when nothing is wrong.

If a few of these ring true, the root is likely older than the current worry.

What helps: going back to where it started

Integrative Regression Method, or IRM, is a guided session approach. It helps you trace a reaction back to the moment it first formed.

You stay aware and in control the whole time. You look back with the understanding you have now.

Once you see where the loop began, you can see what it was protecting. Many people find the grip loosens from there.

IRM is reflective work and does not replace medical or mental health care. If you already have that support, IRM can sit alongside it.

A gentle place to begin

The IRM Self-Paced Session Experience lets you try this from home, at your own pace. It guides you through a full session for $67.

You can return to it whenever an old reaction shows up again.

Your mind has worked hard to protect you. It may be ready to rest.
