Want to Become a Life Coach? Consider a Deeper Path
Friends already call you when something is hard, and they leave the conversation feeling lighter. At some point a quiet question forms. Could this be my work?
If you have been searching for how to become a life coach, you are in good company. It is one of the most common ways people begin to picture a helping career. This post offers another option to sit beside it.
Why So Many People Want to Become a Life Coach
Most people who want to become a life coach are not chasing a title. They want meaningful work, one person at a time. Many also want to work for themselves and set their own hours.
Coaching can be a lovely fit for that. Goal setting and accountability help a lot of people move forward. Still, many new coaches notice something after a while. A client knows exactly what to do and still does not do it. The same reaction shows up again, no matter how good the plan is.
When a Good Plan Is Not Enough
This is the moment that draws many helpers toward deeper work. The client is not lazy or unwilling. Something inside them reacts before they can choose.
A tight chest before a hard conversation. A quick yes when they meant no. A shutdown the moment someone raises their voice. A spiral of thoughts late at night.
Overthinking is one of those reactions, and we explored it in Why Do I Overthink Everything?. If you feel curious about what sits underneath moments like these, you may want more than a coaching framework. You may want a clear way to help someone see their own reactions.
Another Path: Become a Certified IRM Practitioner
The Integrative Regression Method, or IRM, is a guided session structure for one-on-one work. In IRM, regression means tracing a present-day reaction backward through its own sequence.
You help a client notice the earliest moment in that reaction they can recognize. Then you help them find the point where a different response becomes possible. IRM does not go hunting for old memories, and it is not past-life work. It stays with what the client lives with today.
Practitioners offer IRM as their own work. Some add it to the sessions they already hold with clients. Others start here with no prior training at all.
Who IRM Level 1 Is For
Level 1 welcomes people at very different starting points:
People who want to become a life coach or helper and want a clear session structure
Coaches who want more depth with the clients they already see
Reiki practitioners and energy healers who work one on one
Career changers who hope to build a practice of their own
Level 1 is self-paced and fully online, so you move through it on your own schedule. If you live outside the United States, please follow the laws and rules for this work in your country.
IRM certification is educational and is not a mental health license. IRM is reflective work and does not replace medical or mental health care.
What Level 1 Includes and Costs
Level 1 is $450, or three payments of $150. You learn the full IRM session structure and earn your certification as a Level 1 practitioner. The course includes the practitioner manual and the session script.
Certified practitioners can also list themselves in our practitioner directory, free for the first year. You do not need to know on day one whether this becomes a full-time career. Many people begin out of curiosity, then find the work fits them.
Is This Your Next Step?
If you want to become a life coach because you love real change, IRM may be the deeper path you wanted. Take your time with the decision. Read about the program and see whether it feels like home.
We would be glad to learn alongside you.
